Earlier this week, Andrew, his sister Clare and I went to the Raptor Centre near Duncan. Andrew and I have been there before but this time, because it was my birthday this week, Andrew booked the "Closest Encounter" for us. We got to hold the birds, have them fly to us, and learn much more about them in a 1.5 hour session with one of the staff members.
Interestingly, in addition to education and caring for birds, the Centre trains raptors to provide wildlife management services at airports, industrial sites, and solid waste management facilities.
It was great to be able to get up close to the birds and get some good photos too! These are some of my favourites.
