Belize 2024 - Turneffe Island - Flowers, Birds, Other Critters

It's hard to believe our poor little hibiscus plant at home is the same as these huge bushes with huge flowers! These could be found throughout the resort.

There were just a few other flowering bushes but all very pretty.

On our last trip to Belize (to Blackbird Caye) we recall there being lots of birds so we were excited to get out and take some photos. Unfortunately, they weren't as plentiful here. Andrew usually went out for a walk with his camera while I was at the gym so he found more than I did. Of note, there were pelicans, wood peckers, and hooded orioles that I didn't get photos of.

We spent a fair amount of time with this Great Egret. I like the reflection in the water and managed to get some decent photos of his takeoff and then landing a short distance away.

There were lots of lizards, small iguanas that loved the flower petals, and a few sea stars could be seen beside the boardwalks.
